Soil pH

Collect a representative composite sample using clean, non-contaminating tools and place it in a strong, clean polyethylene bag, wide-mouth jar or laboratory-supplied container appropriate to the material. Remove only obviously extraneous objects unless they are part of the sample specification. Seal securely to prevent loss of fines, moisture change or cross-contamination, double-bag dusty or abrasive material, and label the source, batch/location and sampling date. Keep contaminated or chemically active samples in compatible containers and declare known hazards before dispatch. For Soil pH, use packaging and preservation compatible with pH meter; if the receiving laboratory supplies a dedicated collection kit, bottle or transport medium, that kit takes precedence over general packaging guidance.

For Soil pH, laboratory accuracy begins with representative sampling. Combine appropriate increments from the field, lot or production batch rather than submitting a visibly unusual single portion unless that is the investigation target. Provide crop/product type, sampling depth or batch information and the intended use of the result. If the result will guide fertiliser, feed or agronomic decisions, include the relevant specification, crop or formulation target where available.
