The Qualitative Beta-hCG test is a serum-based blood test that detects the presence (not the amount) of hCG, a hormone produced during early pregnancy. It gives a yes or no answer to whether a person is pregnant. It’s more sensitive than urine tests and can detect pregnancy as early as 6–8 days after ovulation. It’s commonly used to confirm pregnancy, especially in clinical or emergency settings. While reliable for detection, it does not measure hormone levels, so it can’t monitor pregnancy progression or complications. Follow-up testing may be needed if results are unclear.
